But sure enough, we have been this long without cell service so I have a lot of catching you up to do.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, when you go to Yellowstone you have to see a few of the &#8220;must dos&#8221; like Old Faithful. The water can deposit close to four feet of material in a year, changing the face of Mammoth constantly.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-PK5WssW\/0\/b231e3f9\/M\/DSC_0510-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-92pJdXX\/0\/e4dbdc88\/M\/DSC_0519-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-qFJR28p\/0\/12e71939\/M\/DSC_0520-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mud pots and steam vents abound. This one was bubbling violently and smelled strongly of sulphur.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-TtLKWWt\/0\/1988d409\/M\/DSC_0524-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our trusty steed in the vapors from the mud pots.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All of Yellowstone seems to be smoking, steaming or erupting. But there are other sights as well.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-sDPCpwK\/0\/0c7b5ee0\/M\/DSC_0529-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Waterfalls&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-hwpPfWS\/0\/68a2d3b0\/M\/DSC_0535-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grand canyons&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-htjvN7K\/0\/f2cdb9a5\/M\/DSC_0539-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rushing rivers&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-b8bZtjf\/0\/39ad33e2\/M\/DSC_0555-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ospreys&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-96LxmVC\/0\/22581ab0\/M\/DSC_0501-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">the ever present buffalo&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-t7MhxJs\/0\/9de935a7\/M\/DSC_0572-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">and less imposing elk&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-QM9CNLk\/0\/b9667d6a\/M\/DSC_0580-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">lakes full of ducks and geese with marvelous backdrops.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-7KnPWfX\/0\/952e77a3\/M\/DSC_0583-M.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">challenging but gorgeous roads.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yellowstone is a unique place. Traffic can be a bit unnerving as people stop in the middle of the road to get far too close to buffalo. I have no idea what they are thinking but one person was life-flighted out while we were there after being gored by a buffalo.<\/p>\n<p>The trip out of Yellowstone took us to Cody, Wyoming for the night. We used our down time to visit the Cody Museum, a fascinating place, well worth a day&#8217;s wandering.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-83Khg8R\/0\/a8b04c48\/M\/IMG_2088-M.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-hbHn6Vr\/0\/ef91d537\/M\/IMG_20170709_140903-M.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The firearms collection is stunning &#8211; so comprehensive and so varied. Gorgeous, one of a kind pieces like this one.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-4ST9jHV\/0\/0567e8d8\/M\/IMG_20170709_140910-M.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">and presentation pieces made to presidents, and generals and foreign dignitaries along with historical weapons and weapons of war. An amazing collection of firearms.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-Wzgzp92\/0\/0f9b3b6f\/M\/IMG_20170709_151959-M.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The collection of Native American items is extensive&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-x5XC5fG\/0\/ffeee768\/M\/IMG_20170709_143917-M.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">as well as an extensive collection of art.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Truck-Camper-Travels\/Alaska-2017\/i-5Znn3VX\/0\/8fe03edc\/M\/DSC_0614-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Truly a sacred and special place .<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We left Cody for Devil&#8217;s Tower where we spent the evening at Belle Forche Campground. It is a bit after nine P.M. and the temperature outside is still 90 degrees. Tomorrow we make a long run for Minnesota, Myre Big Island State Park, where we hope to spend the night.
